High Knoll Equestrian Center - Lessons, Showing & Training

High Knoll Equestrian Center (“HKEC”) is known to produce well rounded equestrians skilled in all aspects of horsemanship, and horses that enjoy their work. We cater to riders age 6 to adult, and we promote camaraderie and education. Our trainers bring their professionalism and enthusiasm to each lesson and training session, using show quality, safe school horses for all levels. High Knoll offers Dressage lessons with a USDF Silver Medalist, beginner lessons, a high-school riding program, and a therapeutic program.

Lessons

Our program provides students with a correct, solid foundation needed to continue their various equine pursuits. We start all beginner riders in a balance seat, moving towards learning the basics of dressage (French for "training"). We offer professional training in all disciplines with serious attention to dressage, which will comfortably lead the rider into all other disciplines. Riders showing exceptional skills on the flat enjoy learning the basics of jumping. Our lesson program is tailored to each rider so beginners and competitors alike may pursue their goals.

Showing

High Knoll Equestrian Center travels to a variety of shows throughout the year for interested clients. We strive to attend shows to better our riding and to help set goals to achieve in our sport. It is very rewarding to see how many life skills result naturally from the horse show experience: sportsmanship - goal setting - focus on an objective - persistent work ethic towards a goal - problem solving - responsibility - patience -being aware of surroundings and able to influence them in a positive way - self confidence and self respect - teamwork values

Training

Our goal in all training is to develop horses to their full potential while they enjoy their work. Our trainer will work with your horse’s individual needs to create a training plan. We use solid groundwork principles believing that they carry over to all under-saddle work, as well as starting all horses in dressage to develop supple, strong equine athletes that can succeed in any discipline. Horses in training at High Knoll get the best care to ensure the horse is at their physical and mental best.

The High Knoll Therapeutic Program is founded on the belief that horses provide unique and innovative opportunities that maximize the therapeutic experience for riders with all types of challenges. A Loving Muzzle Your First Lesson

All riders first lesson with HKEC will be an hour private evaluation and introduction lesson. Group lessons are sometimes available for riders showing adequate skills in their private lessons and are able to walk and trot independently. We travel with interested students to various shows and clinics, as well as hosting clinics and shows on site to further our rider’s education and skills.
